PERU, Neb. —The Peru State athletic department recently hired Ashley Baldassarre to take over Associate Athletics Director duties effective immediately. Baldassarre was most recently the Assistant Athletic Director for Compliance and Student Experience and Senior Woman Administrator at Iowa Wesleyan University as well as the Head Women’s Volleyball coach.
Baldassarre was the graduate assistant for women’s volleyball while completing her Master’s degree with the Statesmen. After graduation she made her way to Iowa Wesleyan University She has been in multiple roles from Assistant Athletic Director, Head Volleyball coach and Senior Woman Administrator.
As an administrator with the Tigers, Baldassarre organized the development of the Association of Student-Athletes (ASA), held a position on the senior leadership committee, and managed the design and relocation of the new weight room. Baldassarre held a variety of duties for Game Day Operations.
Baldassarre has also spent time as an Adjunct Professor at Iowa Wesleyan and William Penn. While at Iowa Wesleyan she taught Intro to Sports Management and while at William Penn she taught students how to perform CPR and first-aid skills.
She also has experience in the Athletic Performance world as she was a Strength and Conditioning coach for the Statesmen, assisting in training programs for Men’s Soccer, Baseball and Women’s Volleyball.
Baldassarre was also a Strength and Conditioning Olympic Lifting intern at the University of Iowa. Where she assisted Hawkeye programs in the following sports Men’s Basketball, Women’s Basketball, Women’s Gymnastics, Women’s Rowing and Men’s Tennis.

“I am extremely excited to get started at Peru State because there is an atmosphere within the department where I can tell big things are right around the corner for a lot of the programs,” said Baldassarre. “Kyle (Pond) has an excellent vision for the department that I am excited to assist with and make happen.”

“We are thrilled to add Ashley to our team here at Peru. She brings tremendous value to the improvements we are making, said Athletic Director Kyle Pond. “We are enhancing our gameday atmosphere, adding a strength and conditioning program and have added a sports management minor that will have internships through our department.”

Baldassarre is accompanied by her husband Kyle Baldassarre and their mini poodle Zoey. Currently, they plan to live in Nebraska City.
